DEFINITON
Intentions have been defined as the amount of effort one is willing to exert to attain a goal (Ajzen, 1991). Intentions can be inferred from participants' responses that have a form, like I intend to do something, I plan to do something or I will do something.
SOCIAL FUNCTION
It is used to understand other people's plans and intentions in order to act accordingly.
HOW TO SAY
Expressing plans and intentions:
It may use will/shall/intend/plan.
Positive statement:
• I will ...
• I would like to ...
• I'm going to ...
• I intend to ...
• I plan to ...
Negative statement:
• I will not (won't) ...
• I'm not going to ...
Interogative statement:
• Will "subject" ...?
• Are you/they/we going to... ?
• Is he/she/it going to...?
Asking for plans and intentions:
It may use close or open ended questions.
• What will you ...?
• When will you ...?
• What are you going to ...?
• Are you going to ...?
TIPS
Use time signal future.
• Tonight
• Tomorrow/ next day
• The day after day
• Next week
• Next month
• Next Year
• A few days/weeks/months/years later
